Vihtavuori industrial powders
Vihtavuori manufactures small caliber propellants for military and civil applications, as well as medium and large caliber propellants for a wide range of military purposes. With the widest selection of small caliber powders on the market, Vihtavuori offers industrial propellants that correspond directly with our consumer products and can be tailored to meet specific application requirements.
All Vihtavuori small caliber propellants are of the extruded type. Propellant grains are perforated cylinders, flakes or other shapes, designed to optimize burning behavior for their intended application. Careful grain geometry selection ensures reliable performance, efficiency, and ballistic consistency.

Nitrocellulose production
Manufacturing propellants entirely in-house ensures the highest quality standards. Vihtavuori powders are produced using nitrocellulose manufactured at our own plant, providing complete process control from start to finish.

+150 quality checks
Consistently high quality is ensured through extensive quality control and strict tolerance levels. Up to 150 quality checks are made during the manufacturing process before powder is packaged and shipped.
Certificates
Each powder type has detailed control certificate. Vihtavuori industrial powders are certified for quality, environment, health and safety (ISO 9001, AQAP 2110, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) and are REACH compliant. Vihtavuori powders are also STANAG 4170 qualified.
Ballistic test center
Our ballistic test center supports production quality control and producing ballistic data using the CIP and SAAMI specifications. With EPVAT testing, we are able to offer comprehensive functional quality tests in line with the NATO standard in different applications.
